The Membership Experience
Gain access to reports and tools that are only available with a membership to Premium Ancestry + Health. Some of our favorite reports and features are:
- Pharmacogenetics Reports* including Medication Insights: 23andMe Pharmacogenetics reports can tell you if you have specific DNA variants in three genes that may influence how you process certain medications.
- Exclusive Health reports Powered by 23andMe Research: Atrial Fibrillation, Coronary Artery Disease, High Blood Pressure, LDL Cholesterol, Migraine, Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and more.
- Get exclusive genetic insights based on pioneering 23andMe research. Rather than looking at a few genetic markers that individually can have a big impact on a person's risk for a condition, these reports, powered by polygenic scores, take into account hundreds or thousands of genetic markers that all have a small impact on likelihood for a condition. When combined together into a polygenic score, they can provide information about someone's genetic likelihood of developing a condition.
- Advanced Ancestry features: Use new filters to better search and find genetic matches, view up to three times more DNA relatives, and unlock premium ancestry tools including Historical Matches®, Reconstructed Ancestors, DNA Relatives Clustering, and Advanced DNA Comparison.
New Personalized Health Reports
Pharmacogenetics Reports* including Medication Insights
Members will receive access to 23andMe Pharmacogenetics reports, which can help you understand if you have specific DNA variants in three genes that may influence how you process several medications. The best time to learn about your pharmacogenetics is before starting a medication, so these reports may be helpful now and in the future and can easily be shared with your healthcare provider with your consent.
Exclusive Health Reports Powered by 23andMe Research
Members will receive access to new health reports powered by 23andMe Research that focus on heart health: Atrial Fibrillation, Coronary Artery Disease, High Blood Pressure, and LDL Cholesterol. Also included in the membership are reports on migraine headaches, obstructive sleep apnea, uterine fibroids, and more.
Advanced Ancestry Features
Premium members can see up to three times as many matches in their DNA Relatives list compared to non-Premium members, along with advanced filters for DNA Relatives. Available filters include:
- Ancestry Composition: Filter by matches with specific ancestry
- Haplogroup: Filter by matches with a particular maternal or paternal haplogroup
- Last Active: Filter by matches who have logged in to 23andMe within a particular time frame
Historical Matches
Historical Matches is a feature that shows members if they share any DNA with ancient or historical individuals whose genomes have been sequenced. In this feature you can read about the historical individuals and learn about where they lived, how they were discovered and other interesting details about the studies.
DNA Relatives Clustering
DNA Relatives Clustering is a tool that automatically groups your DNA Relatives based on how they’re genetically related to each other—not just to you. Instead of manually piecing things together, clustering provides a visual map of your family network, making it easier to track down shared ancestors, visualize family branches, and ultimately uncover hidden family connections. For more information about this new feature, visit this help article.
Advanced DNA Comparison
The DNA Comparison feature shows you the exact location of the DNA that you have in common with another 23andMe customer, and lets you take the next step in comparing your DNA with other relatives and profiles with whom you are sharing. For more information about this feature, visit this help article.
Reconstructed Ancestors
This feature uses segments you share with your relatives to help uncover and piece together the ancestry of your ancestors without needing direct DNA samples from them. By attributing DNA shared between members of your family tree to a common ancestor, we can reconstruct portions of their genome and from it, partial ancestry results. A complete profile typically includes around 7,500 centimorgans (cM) of DNA. Because your ancestors are reconstructed using DNA shared between individuals on your Family Tree, the more individuals who share DNA through a particular ancestor, the more complete the profile of the ancestor becomes. You can find more information about this feature in this help article.

*23andMe PGS Pharmacogenetics reports: The 23andMe test uses qualitative genotyping to detect 6 variants in 3 genes in the genomic DNA of adults from saliva for the purpose of reporting and interpreting information about the processing of certain therapeutics to inform discussions with a healthcare professional. It does not describe if a person will or will not respond to a particular therapeutic and does not describe the association between detected variants and any specific therapeutic. Results should be confirmed by an independent genetic test that is prescribed by your own healthcare professional before taking any medical action. Warning: Test information should not be used to start, stop, or change any course of treatment and does not test for all possible variants that may affect metabolism or protein function. The PGS test is not a substitute for visits to a healthcare professional. Making changes to your current regimen can lead to harmful side effects or reduced intended benefits of your medication, therefore consult with your healthcare professional before taking any medical action. For a complete list of the 6 variants tested, visit Pharmacogenetics Important Test Information.
**23andMe health predisposition reports include both reports that meet FDA requirements for genetic health risks and reports which are based on 23andMe research and have not been reviewed by the FDA. The test uses qualitative genotyping to detect select clinically relevant variants in the genomic DNA of adults from saliva for the purpose of reporting and interpreting genetic health risks. It is not intended to diagnose any disease. Your ethnicity may affect the relevance of each report and how your genetic health risk results are interpreted. Each genetic health risk report describes if a person has variants associated with a higher risk of developing a disease, but does not describe a person’s overall risk of developing the disease. The test is not intended to tell you anything about your current state of health, or to be used to make medical decisions, including whether or not you should take a medication, how much of a medication you should take, or determine any treatment. For important information and limitations regarding each genetic health risk report, visit 23andme.com/test-info/.
