23andMe saliva collection kits can be purchased through our online store or through an authorized retailer (Amazon.com, CVS and Target). Ordering by phone is not currently an option that we provide. 23andMe’s online store offers two service options: Health + Ancestry Service and Ancestry Service. Our Health + Ancestry Service includes reports on health and traits whereas the Ancestry Service does not. Learn more.
Both services require submitting a saliva sample using our saliva collection kit that you send to our lab for analysis. Each individual who wants to participate in 23andMe® needs his or her own saliva collection kit.
Note: Individuals must provide a sample and return the collection kit from the same country to which the kit was shipped by 23andMe.
How much does the service cost?
Specific shipping and kit costs vary depending on the number of kits included in an order and the shipping method. For a price estimate for your online 23andMe order:

- Enter your shipping information on the subsequent store page and click "Continue" again.

What payment options are available?
Our online store accepts the following credit and debit cards:
- American Express
- Pre-paid credit or gift cards from Visa, MasterCard, or American Express**
When purchasing through the 23andMe online store, it is important to remember that only one payment source can be used per order; the entire amount of your purchase must be covered by a single card or PayPal account. Additionally, the billing address you provide in the cart must match the address associated with your purchasing card.

CVS Pharmacy and Target Considerations
When purchasing through CVS Pharmacy or Target, you purchase your saliva collection kit through the retailer, then pay an additional lab fee at 23andMe.com/start to receive your online genetic reports. Learn more.
23andMe Online Store and Amazon.com Considerations
Kits purchased through the online 23andMe store or Amazon.com do not require an additional lab fee. For kits purchased via the 23andMe online store or Amazon.com, 23andMe offers both service options.
Note: 23andMe can only guarantee services and provide support for kits purchased directly through our website or through one of our authorized retailers. The resale of our kits is prohibited, and kits purchased on any external website, such as eBay or craigslist, among others, may not be authentic or functional. To protect our customers and prevent privacy and billing issues, 23andMe routinely deactivates kit barcodes found to be resold by unauthorized retailers.
Why isn't my shipping address being accepted?
The online 23andMe store uses the United States Postal Service (USPS) to verify shipping locations. To see if your preferred shipping address is verified by USPS, click here (this link will take you to a USPS page).
If USPS is unable to recognize your address, you may need to use an alternate address to place your order through our online store. Alternatively, you may purchase through one of our authorized resellers.
How can I ship to multiple addresses?
Shipping to multiple addresses in one order is not currently supported by the 23andMe online store.
How do I track my shipment?
23andMe typically ships orders within 1-2 business days. You will receive an email at the address associated with your order as soon as your order ships. The shipping notification email will include a tracking number that will allow you to track your package. Keep in mind that depending on the carrier, the tracking number can take 24-48 hours to become active. Learn more.
You have the option to give the 23andMe service as a gift. Below, we have included a few of important details to remember when placing your gift order.
Order email address and phone number
The order confirmation email is sent to the address you provide during the order process, and the phone number is used to contact you in case of shipping problems. Many gift givers choose to enter their own contact information rather than the recipient information if they want the arrival of the kit to be a surprise.
Billing and shipping addresses
The online store offers the ability to enter different billing and shipping addresses, so you have the option to send the kit(s) directly to the gift recipient if you wish.
Instructions regarding the sample collection process and 23andMe account creation will be included in the kit. Return shipping is prepaid, and shipping instructions and materials are also included with the kit. The recipient of each kit will need to submit his or her saliva sample within 12 months of your purchase date, regardless of when the kit is gifted. Any samples received after 12 months will not be processed by the lab.
Saliva collection kits may not be sold or resold, but a kit can be registered by an individual other than the person for whom it was purchased. If the gift recipient does not want to participate, you may request a refund within 30 days of purchase per our refund policy, or you can have another individual use the kit.
