Who are the Mendels?

We provide our customers with the ability to get a first-hand look at our service using the data of our sample family, The Mendels. The Mendels appear until you receive data of your own.

The Mendels are a real family of European descent who have been genotyped through the 23andMe service. They have agreed to be used as examples on our website though we have changed their names.

Their fictional names are inspired by the real-life 19th-century Austrian monk Gregor Mendel, who is known as the "father of modern genetics". Our Mendel family includes a father named Greg, his wife Lilly, and their three children Ian, Alan, and Erin. Also included are Greg's father Fred Mendel, and Lilly's parents Ron and Margo Fisher.

If you'd prefer not to see the Mendels in your account, go to the Example Profiles tab, under account settings, and uncheck the box beside "Show the Mendel Family."
